Greg Hard

Biography

I am currently a student studying psychology with an emphasis on neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania. I am particularly interested in studying the biology of psychopathology, especially the role of the glutamate system in affective disorders. More generally, I am interested in the intersection of neuroscience and psychopathology (clinical neuroscience) and how the study of neuroscience can lead to a better understanding of etiology and help develop novel treatments.

I am also interested in neurocriminology, functional neuroimaging, psychopathology, chronobiology, psychopharmacology, cognitive science, and the neurobiology of motivational systems, especially emotion and fear responses. The most prominent of my interests aside from clinical neuroscience is neurocriminology, the study of the neurobiological basis of criminal and deviant behavior.

Before coming to Penn I worked as an Associate Program Director for THRIVE Education Group, a group I also co-founded, and briefly as the Director of Community Engagement for The THRIVE Institute, a short-lived education policy analysis think-tank where I previously served as an ex officio Board Member for Civic Engagement and Social Entrepreneurship. I have also been involved in numerous internet ventures, including as the co-founder and technical operations director for a web hosting company based in Boston, and in leadership roles for several other, smaller ventures.
